When patching on 10.2.0.4 on Sun Soaris, the inventory information on the remote nodes can get corrupted due to the unpublished bug 7364519.
The actual patch is applied correctly on all remote nodes. The problem is with the inventory on remote nodes.
This problem does not affect other platform.
This problem hits only RAC on 10.2.0.4 on Sun Soaris (Sparc and X86-64)
When running "opatch lsinventory", the following error is reported:
Inventory load failed... OPatch cannot load inventory for the given Oracle
Home.
LsInventorySession failed: Unable to create patchObject
OPatch failed with error code 73
Workaround:
The following two instructions show how to fix the corrupted inventory caused by the unpublished bug 7364519 and how to avoid hitting the unpublished bug 7364519:
- To fix the corrupted inventory in the remote node caused by the unpublished bug 7364519, copy the the HOME/inventory/oneoffs from the local node to remote nodes where HOME is CRS_HOME, ASM_HOME, RDBMS_HOME, or other homes where the patch is applied.
- To avoid hitting the problem (unpublished bug 7364519) , please issue "opatch apply -local" to apply the patch locally on all nodes. Please apply the patch individually on all nodes using the above command.
- A patch is currently being created to avoid this corruption.
