SYMPTOMS

Select statement fails with:
ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [_wordcopy_bwd_dest_aligned()+161] [SIGSEGV] [ADDR:0x2B19A2A5DFF8] [PC:0x360EA7C711] [Invalid permissions for mapped object] []

CAUSE

 This error is due to   Bug 16303608 - ORA-7445 [_WORDCOPY_BWD_DEST_ALIGNED()+185]

You may find some or all of the following function codes in the 'Call Stack' section of the trace file:
wordcopy_bwd_dest_  aligned memmove aligned lxsucPushKeysToBuf  lxucStCol lxsStrCol
When running a query using NLS_SORT=generic_m_ci and the text has one or more unicode characters, we can get an ORA-3113 in the client and the server
process crashes with eg. a SEGV in _wordcopy_bwd_dest_aligned()

SOLUTION

REDISCOVERY INFORMATION:
ORA-7445 with _WORDCOPY_BWD_DEST_ALIGNED raised when multilingual collation is used with _CI option, for example, GENERIC_M_CI

Solution
Install patch 16303608 to resolve this error
