Workaround or Resolution

If you downloaded and installed the 10.2.0.5 Patch Set between 30-APR-2010 and 13-JUL-2010 on Linux x86, you should perform the following to ensure all 10.2.0.5 bug fixes are installed in your ORACLE_HOME.
Issue the following to determine if the incomplete 10.2.0.5 Patch Set is installed
% $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
If the following is included, then the complete Patch Set is installed and nothing further needs to be done:
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4     10.2.0.5.0a
If the following is included, then the incomplete Patch Set is installed:
Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4     10.2.0.5.0
If you have installed the originally released 10.2.0.5, you must perform the following to ensure all 10.2.0.5 bug fixes are installed in your ORACLE_HOME otherwise the installation will not be supported
  1. Re-download Patch 8202632 Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4 10.2.0.5.0 for Linux x86 32-bit from My Oracle Support

  2. Determine if any Interim patches are installed

    % $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
  3. Rollback any Interim patches installed following the instructions in the individual README's

  4. Install the 10.2.0.5 patchset as documented in the README.html

  5. Verify product version installed

    % $ORACLE_HOME/OPatch/opatch lsinventory
should include the Installed Top-level Product:

    Oracle Database 10g Release 2 Patch Set 4     10.2.0.5.0a
  6. Manually upgrade the database following the instructions as documented in the README.html section "10.6.2.2 Upgrading a Release 10.2 Database".

Note: DBUA will not run updates for this installation. The upgrade (catupgrd.sql) must be run manually.

  7. Re-apply any patches that were rolled back in Step 3 and perform any Post Install steps they have documented
NOTE: All patches that have been built prior to and since the 10.2.0.5.0a version are correct and don't need to be rebuilt, but do need to be re-installed
