Post-Upgrade Status Script utlu112s.sql Fails with ORA-942 [ID 1051991.1]

Symptoms

After upgrading to Oracle11g Release 2 (11.2), the Oracle Database 11.2 Post-Upgrade Status Tool (/rdbms/admin/utlu112s.sql) fails with:

Cause

In this case, the ORA-942 error resulting from utlu112s.sql is an old error.

Utlu112s.sql should only be run once after the upgrade as it displays errors that are stored in a temporary error logging table.  If utlu112s.sql is run again later, it will always show the same errors as these have been stored in the temporary table that was created and populated during the upgrade process.  It is static.

Solution

If DBA_REGISTRY shows the status of (in this case) Workspace Manager is VALID, then this error is safe to ignore.
